This weekend was the annual "Turn the Clocks
Back" weekend. Now normally I
do not think much about doing it.
It's really sort of a mindless thing. For me, I turn all of the clocks back an hour before going
to bed Saturday night, and when I awake on Sunday, an extra hour has magically
appeared. This hour is always
quickly filled without much thought, and simply becomes another part of my
Sunday. About the only thing I
notice, is that it gets dark an hour earlier, and that does not necessarily
please me.
I am not sure why, but this year was different. As I was changing the clock beside my
bed, I realized that I did not want this hour to just become another hour in
the day for me. I wanted to do
something special with it. After
getting into bed, I laid awake considering all of the possibilities, everything
from sitting quietly with a good book, to beginning to tackle the
reorganization of my work area here at home. I suddenly found myself feeling so very fortunate because
the possibilities seemed endless, and each and every one that came to mind made
me happy, and excited.
I started to feel sleepy, and as I reached over to turn out
the light, I glanced at the clock.
It was just a bit after 1:00 am, and I realized that I'd spent a little
over an hour just feeling grateful for possibilities. It was indeed a very good way to spend my extra hour.
If you have a moment, stop back on Wednesday when I will be
talking to you about how to find the sweet spot for your lens.
Also, if you are interested in participating in Share My Holiday, just send me your
info. We have a great group so far,
and I am very excited about that!

Hi Lisa; nice to stop a while and think about all the great things we enjoy in our lives. While you turn back your clocks, mine have gone forward an hour. Quirky world we live in. Loved your hydrangea photo.
Never get my head around the time changes. But, like you say: it does get dark early all of a sudden. It feels like a midnight adventure going out at 19.00 hrs :-). Your hydrangea is lovely with the soft edges.
Hi Lisa,
Sounds like your hour was well spent! Love that you're able to see the beauty in life and its marvelous possibilities. Thanks for sharing nature's beauty through your fabulous art!
Wishing you a happy and productive week,
Anna
Loved your post, Lisa. What better way to spend that gift hour than being grateful? The delicate beauty of your hydrangea is lovely!
It is very interesting to turn the clock back weekend. Can you create effective hour?
very beautiful hydrangea photo. I like it very much.
Delightfully pretty. I love the light off and the delicate central focus. Greetings.
So soft and pretty...
I like that creamy look. :)
I always look forward to your monday creative exchange - that and your never fail beautiful photo to accompany it. I am one huge fan of these flowers, so seeing the flower plus the two toned colours plus your lovely soft delicate tone to it, made it even all the more lovely.
What a beautiful image that is - it is so soft and pretty looking.
Our clocks went back a week earlier than yours and for the first time EVER I forgot. So woke up thinking my daughter had slept in for work when in fact she hadn't. Not a great start to my morning lol.
Your hour sounds perfect!!
Beautiful photo and lovely post - I needed a reminder to be grateful for some things this morning! Have a good week x
Funny - I shared the same thoughts this year about the extra hour..and how lucky we are to have it. Beautiful post!!!
I love the painterly effect.
I am also fascinated with the clock thing. When I travel to the USA I get to travel back in time because we are advanced by a few hours. Yet when I return home to Manila from the US I lost a day!
Over coffee I tell my friends I lost a day and they do not know how to react to it! ;=)
Yay! We're part of the Holiday exchange!
We turned clocks two weeks ago, hmmm why we turn them different time?! I really don't understand the whole thing, it just messes people's at least mine sleep. You really spent your hour a good way, so beautiful post.
Have a nice week darling and I want to share a hug with you, you are such a warm person:)
(i think i'm in a good mood or what:)

Beautiful work as always Lisa :) I love hydrangeas too, this one is so delicate, just wonderful :)
so lovely, this is my first week joining in.
Such a lovely image, Lisa! That bit of blue is gorgeous.
Hello, Lisa! Soft, precious light and colours!
My best regards from Romania!
Beautiful thoughts and image Lisa. It is such a privilege to have possibilities. I recall reading somewhere, that gratitude is close to enlightenment.
Beautiful textured blooms!
Love the light blue blossoms. Beautiful. :)
Lovely, Lisa! Since I wake up early to have my morning creative time, this time change has given me an even longer morning to play. Although I don't think I really want to get up at 4:30am regularly, I'm enjoying the extra time yesterday and today. :) Nice new place here!
Contentment. An hour "lost" in happy thoughts, and thankfulness. Sounds like something that should be done more often :) I'm curious about the background ... is it a tablecloth or a painted canvas?
That photo is absolutely stunning, Lisa! I loved reading your post - such a great way to spend the extra hour! Have a wonderful week!
What a delight to start my week here, Lisa! And that wonderful dreamy image of hydrangea blossoms...just perfect! Your post has inspired me to take some time to be thankful for possibilities, too.
Loved reading your post - it was very uplifting and made me think. Your photo is stunning as usual! a little bit of light blue . . . hmmmm . . . where did that come from?
Dear Lisa-You are so right!! I, too, am really making an effort to focus on being grateful and slowing down. The extra hour gets more and more preciious each year. And what better way to spend it than to count our blessings? xxx
How lovely to spend an hour thinking about all those possibilities.. Lovely photo this week, so soft & pretty.
What a wonderful idea, Lisa! I never really thought to use that extra hour of sleep for something constructive---usually, I'm so thankful just to be GETTING that that extra hour of sleep, I usually don't think much about it!
Maybe this is something I should start doing myself. : )
Happy Monday!
A really remarkable beautiful photograph Lisa! I simply love the texture around the Hydrangea.
Pleased to see you made good of that one hour my friend.
Nick.
Hi Lisa,
Great photo and a very sweet and thoughtful post. Thanks for stopping by my site last week. Take care, Lynn
Lisa, I can look and look at your art of flowers. They are outstanding, amazing and lovely. And absolutely special and so different from what i used to see. It is always takes me by surprise how you create this beautiful soft light and these gentle fantastic colors.
Your art is remarkable and very memorable. I also enjoy very much reading your thoughts in your post. An extra hour a day....
Have a very creative and beautiful week, my dear Lisa.
Lisa, That is a stunning photo-- I love the way you process many of your photos, and your backgrounds are always amazing. They give such a soft, mellow feeling to your photos. Lovely, as always. Have a terrific week. Mickie
love how you spent that extra hour!
What a wonderful way to spend your hour, and how grateful we should be in life for all of those endless possibilities, something that so often we don't take the time to look at, or believe that our possibilities are endless. Love your beautiful hydrangea, and will look forward to Wednesday.
Lovely post Lisa :)
The softness and contrast of colors is lovely in this shot. Thank you for sharing!
That is a great way to spend the extra hour :) this is a beautiful inspiring post for me. Have a great week ahead!
Me too like dreamy work of art :)
That little pop of baby blue is so sweet. Hope your body clock has adjusted to the time change.
The variety of excellent photos this week
is wonderful!
One hour, yes it goes to fast and so many times we finish a day without finishing anything we were going to work on that day. You are so right on the thought that if we spend even a small time thinking on what we are happy about or what the possibilities are then, the day has a finished feeling. Taking a photo or painting will also add to the joy of that day.
